Overview
The International Journal of Computational Materials Science and Engineering (IJCMSE) employs a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, validity, and significance of published research. All submitted manuscripts undergo thorough evaluation by independent experts in the relevant field.
Review Process
1. Initial Screening
Upon submission, manuscripts are first reviewed by the editorial office for:
- Adherence to submission guidelines
- Scope alignment with the journal
- Plagiarism check using specialized software
- Basic scientific merit and ethical compliance
2. Editorial Assessment
Manuscripts passing initial screening are assigned to a handling editor who evaluates:
- Scientific novelty and significance
- Appropriateness for the journal's audience
- Methodological soundness
3. Peer Review
IJCMSE uses a single-blind peer review process where:
- Reviewer identities are kept confidential from authors
- Author identities are known to reviewers
- Typically 2-3 independent reviewers evaluate each manuscript
- Reviewers assess originality, methodology, results, and conclusions
4. Decision
Based on reviewer recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions:
- Accept: Manuscript is accepted for publication
- Minor Revision: Small changes required before acceptance
- Major Revision: Substantial changes needed; may require re-review
- Reject: Manuscript is not suitable for publication
Timeline
- Initial decision: Within 1-2 weeks of submission
- Peer review: 4-6 weeks
- Revision period: 2-4 weeks (depending on revision type)
- Final decision: Within 1 week of revision submission
Reviewer Guidelines
Our reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on:
- Originality and novelty of the research
- Scientific accuracy and methodological rigor
- Clarity of presentation and writing quality
- Appropriateness and completeness of references
- Significance and potential impact of findings
- Ethical considerations and data integrity
Confidentiality
All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers are required to:
- Not share manuscript contents with third parties
- Not use information from manuscripts for personal advantage
- Declare any conflicts of interest
- Recuse themselves if unable to provide an unbiased review
Appeals
Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision should submit a detailed response addressing reviewer concerns to the Editor-in-Chief. Appeals are considered on a case-by-case basis.
